Workplan for the full duration of the project The workplan of the project will be carried out in a period of 9 months. In the workplan emphasis is laid on preparatory actions for establishing the basis of a sustainable network that will be focussed on a transnational systematic and harmonised research programming approach to identify new and or re-emerging risks associated with food and feed production. The research programming should yield tools to identify these risks in the earliest stage as possible. At present, the bewilderment of competent Ministries and Food Authorities regarding the credibility of information sources available and or necessary for a pro-active identification of emerging risks has also been exacerbated by the proliferation of websites and data bases offering food safety information. Much of which is ‘reactive’ in nature and commonly linked to specific literature using search engines. To underpin EU legislation on emerging risks in particular regarding Regulation EC/178/2002 new knowledge is highly pertinent and relevant which only can be developed by an informed agreement on programming activities in the European Research Area. Thereto, the overall work of the project will be in first instance focused on: - An adequate transnational information provision, which is crucial if the development of a sustainable network on Emerging Risk Systems between programming bodies is to be addressed. The overall methodology is: (1) to establish a network of research programming organisations operating in the field of food and feed safety by means of web-based communication and working groups; (2) to write documents summarising the state-of-the-art and identifying needs and gaps (white paper containing the possibilities and impossibilities); (3) to organise a work conference including decision rooms to seek input and feedback from experts and relevant stakeholders, using the white paper as input, (4) to develop a master plan for transnational joint activities within the ERA-NET scheme and (5) to recruit other countries in addition to the current consortium.
The project is divided in four workpackages which will carry out the workplan. |
